We’re excited to introduce a major efficiency boost: you can now edit your data directly within the Contacts Grid. No more clicking back and forth between profiles for routine updates. This update transforms your grid into a powerful, interactive workspace where you can update names, phone numbers, and more in seconds.

When we need to keep track of a list of important contacts, like prospects, clients, or even a Christmas card list, we usually turn to the tried and true spreadsheet. But spreadsheets have one major problem: the same contact usually lives in 20 spreadsheets! Which is the right phone number or address or sales status?

Spreadsheets become out-of-date almost immediately, and the answer to a messy spreadsheet is usually to … start a new spreadsheet.

ContactDrive has solved this problem with our new Contacts Grid where you can manage your contacts like a spreadsheet, but keep them connected in a database.

  • Instant Text Entry: Simply double-click a text cell, like First Name, type your update, and hit Enter. The system instantly synchronizes your changes across all related columns.
  • Smart Dropdowns: For fields with set options, like Lead status or category, a quick double-click opens a clean selection menu for immediate updates.

2. Intelligent Forms for Precise Data

For more complex information like addresses or emails, we’ve introduced focused popup forms that ensure your data stays accurate without losing your place in the grid.

  • Focused Contextual Forms: Double-clicking specialized columns—like Primary Email or Address—triggers a tailored form designed specifically for that data type.
  • Seamless Syncing: Once you hit Save, your entire row and all dependent master records refresh automatically to reflect the latest info.

3. Better Management for Your Activity Timeline

We’ve extended these inline editing powers to the Activity grid, making it faster than ever to manage your historical timelines.

  • Quick Date Tweaks: Use the built-in picker to adjust an Activity Date with a double-click. It’s designed to let you update the date while safely preserving the original timestamp.
  • Integrity First: To keep your records reliable, you can edit the activities you’ve created. Administrators remain the only ones who can modify logs from other team members.

4. Robust Security and Smarter Searching

This release isn’t just about speed; it’s about security and smarter information retrieval.

  • Permission-Based Editing: Safety is built-in. Users with view-only access will find editing automatically disabled, preventing any accidental data changes.
  • Flexible Phone Filtering: Finding the right contact is now effortless. Our phone column filter now matches raw numbers regardless of how they are formatted—dashes, spaces, and parentheses won’t slow you down.
